Scott is a Kinesiologist, Educator and Meditator who works at the intersection of movement, mediation and science. Since he was a teenager, Scott studied various forms of movement and meditation; first, as a competitive athlete, then as an ardent student of yoga. Yoga was soon followed by Pilates, and both were accompanied by seated meditation.
Scott's formal education includes a Ph.D. in Kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, National Pilates Teacher Certification, and Zero Balancing bodywork certification. In his work in the Human Performance Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, his research interests include the influence of meditation on surgical outcomes, the simultaneous practice of meditation and aerobic exercise, and how meditation supports greater resilience in high performing student-athletes.
Scott has maintained a daily meditation practice for 40+ years and is a dedicated student of the meditation master Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche. He is a Senior Facilitator within Mingyur Rinpoche's Tergar community, faculty in its Meditation Teacher Program, and the Community Director of the Tergar-Madison meditation community.
Scott lives in the hill country west of Madison, Wisconsin with his wife and three cats. When not teaching, meditating or researching, Scott loves to work out, bike and ski.
